Cabin Parking Facility
The
Gondola Cabin Parking Facility at Keystone
When
the Outpost gondola was built in 1991, Keystone decided to also
build a underground cabin parking facility where the gondola cabins
from both the Outpost and River Run gondolas could be parked and
worked on in the same facility. Here is a tour of the underground
cabin parking facility at Keystone Resort, Colorado. However, because
both gondolas were built by different lift manufacturers, there
had to be two seperate chair rails because both gondolas had different
principle roller designs.

come down and go up from. |

In
this picture, you can see the food carts that are used to transport
food from the Summit House station to the Outpost restaurant
on the Outpost gondola. And on the left side of the picture,
you can see the cabin bays where the gondola cabins are worked
on. There is a grip maintenance bay, wash bay and paint bay.
The person that you see in the picture is Eric, he was the nice
lift mechanic that gave Skilifts.org the tour of the cabin parking
facility. |

In
this picture, you are looking back at the spot where the picture
above was taken. If you look to the left in the picture, next
to the white electrical unit on the right, there is a handle.
This handle is what you use to switch the chair rails above
for the Outpost gondola. |
|
The
hydraulic handle levers that that you see on the left side on
the cement wall with the black knobs on top are used to raise
and lower the chair rails above (Vertical height adjustable).
By raising the chair rails, it allows the lift operators and
mechanics to move the gondola cabins easier in the cabin storage
area. |

This
is where the cabins for the Outpost gondola are stored. The
rails you see above are the ones that can be raised or lowered
vertically to help move the cabins around. |

The
controls that you see in this picture are for the River Run
Gondola (Von Roll) and are used to open and close the
chair rails into the different cabin bays. |

we can see two of the River Run's gondola cabins being worked
