I am in the process of compiling some reports for a project, and I was wondering if anyone here has any ties/connections with the Snow Creek ski area in Weston, MO. I am looking for any info about any of their 3 lifts, which consist of two Borvig triples and one newer Poma fixed double. Anybody here ever been to SC or know more than what is above?

Perfect. That's exactly what I needed. May I ask how you came about this knowledge?

Original source is Ski Area Management magazine but all the data is available here: http://www.skilifts..../install_na.htm

I have been there once, about 10 years ago. I believe that the Poma double came from Snow Bluff, which was in Brighton, MO (just north of Springfield on Route 13) and was re-installed at Snow Creek in about 1998 or 2000. I am almost positive that the double wasn't at Snow Creek before '98, though.

I ski every week at Hidden Valley over here in Wildwood, and I have hiked around the former Snow Bluff property. I have extensive information about the former ski resorts in Missouri, and have given several presentations about them. So, if you have any more questions, just ask.

If you need any additional information about Snow Creek, I would try sending them an e-mail. I think that they would probably get back to you quickly, especially now that the season is done. The management seems much better there than at Hidden Valley, even though they are under the same ownership. I e-mailed Hidden Valley about a year ago asking some questions before I gave a presentation, and they never even replied. A couple other times I e-mailed them with a pass question, and it yielded only a one or two word response.

What other resorts were operative in MO? None are listed besides HV and Snow Creek, both of which I've skied at numerous times.
Would you think that if I were to just email the general (info@) address for Snow Creek I could get into direct contact with their lift mech? They do an evac training in August or so for the Ski Patrol that I've heard of the public attending just to see. Would definitely be a rare look inside the ops of a ski area. One not many people will ever see.

I would try that e-mail and see what response you get. If that doesn't work, you could try to call them. They probably don't have a dedicated lift mechanic, but would have several year-round maintenance people who all work on the lifts when that is needed. Hidden Valley has only about five year-round people, so Snow Creek surely wouldn't have more.

The other ski areas in Missouri I have listed below. I will give more information on them when I have time.

Snow Bluff - Brighton
Rainbow Basin - Kirksville
Tan-Tar-A - Lake of the Ozarks
Shepherd Mountain - Ironton
Unknown ski hill near Pacific (I am supposed to visit this one with a lady I know when I have time)
