Is the former lift going to be reinstalled anywhere? It doesn't look to be that old.

The name of the lift removed at Deer Valley Resort is Deer Crest not Deer Creek. The Deer Crest lift was installed in 1997 so we can assume that it will be reinstalled somewhere (whether at Deer Valley or sold for reinstall somewhere else)

Info on the removed lift:

Not necessarily a new lift but...

The main quad at Mont Olympia (Quebec) is receiving a loading carpet this winter.

A new Sojourn double is going in at Mountain Creek. It will be built by Partek. Is Partek still owned by Doppelmayr?

http://www.northjers....html?scpromo=1

Edit: Partek has a new website - http://www.orangecou...s.com/news.html . It mentions the Doppelmayr buyout but doesn't explain the current relationship between Doppelmayr and Partek.

Edit 2: Partek has another website too - http://www.partekskilifts.com/

Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort to Kick Off 50th Anniversary Season with New Chairlift
By First Tracks!! Online Media

Las Vegas, NV - Commemorating its 50th anniversary this season, Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort (LVSSR) will replace Chair 3 with Rabbit Peak Quad, a brand new lift for beginning skiers and snowboarders. The upgrade is part of a larger, multi-million dollar investment representing the largest single year spend in the resort’s history.

Chair 3, a double chairlift, has been transporting eager skiers to the Rabbit Peak trail at LVSSR for the last 30 years. It will be replaced with a contemporary Doppelmayr Eco-Drive quad chairlift and realigned to allow for easier loading and unloading access to beginner terrain. Demolition has already begun and the new lift, Rabbit Peak Quad, will be completed by mid-December. This new lift will dramatically increase uphill capacity to the learning area and will serve as the main access from a new parking lot and base lodge being built over the next several years.

“The new chairlift will provide a safer, faster and more energy efficient lift, improving the guest experience, especially for our visitors who are new to skiing or snowboarding,” said Kevin Stickelman, LVSSR’s general manager. “The upgrade is one of many in our Master Development Plan, which will ultimately make LVSSR a premier winter outdoor playground for locals and visitors.”

In addition to the Chair 3 replacement, LVSSR will make numerous improvements as part of the $35 million Master Development Plan (MDP) that was accepted by the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in 2011. Upgrades that guests can look forward to this season include eight additional trails, a restaurant remodel, a new guest locker room and a new on-mountain grill, among others.

The Bighorn Grill will be completely remodeled including an entirely new kitchen and dining area as well as scramble-style service area. The revamped menu will include more healthy options, made-to-order dishes and a baked potato bar along with traditional favorites such as pizza and burgers. The Bristlecone Bar will offer a new small bites menu and full-service wait staff.

A new on-mountain grill will open in late December at the junction of Bimbo and Flying Home ski runs, allowing guests to grab a quick bite and a drink right on the snow. Skiers and snowboarders will be encouraged to indulge in small bites, wine, beer, soft drinks and water while relaxing in beach-style lounge chairs. The grill will be open every weekend and during holidays.

Haystack VT is now.....

"The Hermitage Club at Haystack Mountain offers terrain for skiers and riders of all abilities, and now skiers can ski down to The Hermitage Inn to enjoy a 4 star lunch in our beautiful Delacroix dining room and take the new four place ski lift installed in 2012 back to the top of the mountain."

So I guess there installing a quad this year. New map here....

I couldn't find any mention of the new Taxi Quad at Jay Peak in the forums. Doppelmayr is installing a short fixed grip near the Bonaventure Lift for beginners and people returning to the Tram Base. This lift would make the Queens HIghway T-bar redundant so I'm thinking they're taking it out.

Yeah Jay took out the t-bar (I think it even broke down near the end of last season and they didn't bother to fix it). They are currently building a new Learning Center near where the t-bar was that will have a small slope above it seviced by a couple of carpets.

That new quad is also designed to service the terrain park on Lower Can-Am.

I've worked up a view of Jay Peaks current status in Google Earth.
In the foreground is the new Learning Center that is under construction. The Purple lines just uphill are the two proposed carpet lifts that will service the learning area.
The Red lift with the white polygon under it is the new short quad that is currently under construction.
The red line to the left of that is the present Bonaventure Quad.
The purple line to the left of that is the proposed HS6 that will top out just under the Face Chutes on St George's Prayer (it should end up being roughly a mile in length).

On the subject of Jay's plans for the new 6 place Bonaventure lift, old Jay maps make it look like the original, pre-1987 Bonnie was on the same line.

NEK, do you know if this is so?

The pre-1987 Bonneventure lift was an old Mueller Double that was in place on that line from 1960 to 1987. The new six pack will follow that same old line up to the area just under the Face Chute.

Not really a new lift but noticed today at Loveland that lift #2 now has a midway unload before the reload station. Looks like an extra tower and some sheave modifications were implemented to create the new unload station. Most of the sheaves look like traditional Yan sheaves from an older vintage and one of the sheave trains looked like it may have come from old lift #4. Although since the lift is not yet open, I did not get to ride the lift and see for sure. The unload station looks very close to the reload station. The attendant at the reload station will have to think fast loading those chairs. Overall, it should help to provide beginners with easier terrain on Home Run and Tango Road to learn their skills and not have to cross major intersecting trails. It should also ease the line at the re-load (once the upper part is open). The old lift #2 had an unload just before the reload but the lift ran a slightly different line and did not cross over lift #6.

Not anymore!

Citing widespread violations, judge orders halt to construction at Haystack-Hermitage resort

http://www.timesargu.../712219902/1050

WILMINGTON — An environmental court judge has issued an emergency order against the new owner of the Haystack Ski Area, ordering construction to stop immediately on the new luxury ski resort including a new ski lift, trails, base lodge, summit building and other projects.

According to the eight-page order, dated Wednesday, Bob Ruben, a vice president for Hermitage Inn Real Estate Holding Co., the new owner of Haystack, told state investigators Dec. 12 the resort would not stop working on the various unpermitted projects “unless directed to stop.”

According to the order by Judge Thomas Durkin, state environmental investigators had been trying to get Hermitage Inn officials to stop the unpermitted work and correct severe erosion problems since Oct. 26.

According to the order, workers for Hermitage Inn Real Estate also built an illegal 1¼ mile snowmobile trail through steep terrain that was supposed to be conserved for critical black bear habitat, according to its state land use permit.

The order includes allegations by state environmental staff that construction workers for Hermitage Inn Real Estate had ignored state environmental officials, their concerns and violated conditions of the permits it did have and had undertaken other work knowing they didn’t have the required permits.

According to the order, Hermitage Inn Real Estate kept working for almost two months despite being told to stop.

Both the Hermitage Inn and Haystack are owned by Connecticut millionaire businessman James Barnes, who has plans to link the luxury inn to the ski area, which had been closed for seven years until he bought it a year ago. Barnes’ plans call for a private luxury ski resort, with a limited number of ski lift tickets sold to residents of Wilmington and Dover. Barnes also wants the towns of Wilmington and Dover to loan him money to finance the purchase and improvement of the Mount Snow Airport.

Mary Beth Tryon, a spokeswoman for the company, didn’t return a call for comment on the emergency order.

The Agency of Natural Resources had gone to court against Hermitage Real Estate Holding Co., seeking a halt to construction.

A state investigator, Ryan McCall, with the watershed management division, said he visited Oct. 26 and found construction of a beginner ski slope at Haystack, a summit building at the top of Haystack, a snowmaking line at Haystack and a new ski lift at the Hermitage site. None of that construction had a permit, according to the judge’s order.

At that time, McCall told Hermitage officials to stop work on those projects until permits were in place. McCall repeated the order Nov. 13 after another visit to the site, again Nov. 26, Dec. 10 and Dec. 12.

The judge, in granting the emergency stop, allowed only construction work to control erosion to continue, and gave Hermitage Inn Real Estate three days to stabilize the snowmobile trail, and 10 days to stabilize all other exposed or disturbed areas with either a thick bed of straw mulch, crushed stone or an erosion control blanket.

Hermitage Inn Real Estate is in the process of clearing land for a ski lift and associated ski trails, a summit building, a 10-unit guest building, a single-family home and a drinking water and sewer lines.

According to Durkin’s order, Hermitage cut an unpermitted snowmobile trail through conservation land next to the Green Mountain National Forest, among other problems, and refused to stop working despite repeated concerns raised by Agency of Natural Resources staff, dating back to October.

The order said that while Hermitage Inn Real Estate has a permit for a small amount of earth work, it lacks many permits for the work it had already started. The work was causing constant muddy discharge into state waters, the order stated.

The order leaves little doubt that Hermitage Inn Real Estate is also believed to behind a move by the Green Mountain National Forest and the U.S. Forest Service earlier this week to close a 23-acre section of the forest immediately adjacent to the ski area and also close a five-mile ridgeline trail between Haystack and Mount Snow ski areas. U.S. Forest Service officials said the trail and forest had been damaged by excavation, and in the case of the trail, stretching over several miles.

The order gives the Hermitage Club, as it is now called, several days to install emergency erosion controls. The company has the right to seek a court hearing on the emergency order. The request must be filed within 5 days.

According to Durkin’s order, the Agency of Natural Resources can issue other administrative orders, including penalties, because of the various violations.
