Well this is the Carson Spur, elevation just under 8000. It is about 1/2 a mile long with really steep slopes above as you can see. It usually closes with heavy snow because they cause avalances and blow all the snow over into the valley below. On the right the snow is about 13 or so feet high (the pole is about 7 with an extension of 5 or 6 feet). In the slide areas the snow is close to 20 feet tall. Pretty crazy.

Significant snowfall is coming this weekend, heavy friday through sunday. Another cold one with snow even lower than the last. Maybe another 5 feet

*sorry about the quality, the forum doesnt like me <_<

In Whistler it is cold and windy but there is not much snow, some runs between emerald and harmony are very rutted, many runs have bushes all over them, snow makers are running 24/7, but there is lots of snow in Vancouver.

We were discussing this at work yesterday. Stories are beginning to circulate about areas such as Mammoth having to abandon whole parking lots until a significant break in the storm cycle occurs. People have lost their cars because they did not mark them or marked them with something too short. Areas are having to close down like we did at Baker because they cannot get personnel out on the hill. When can we have this in CO? :help:

Happened to june the other day, and rose today, the roads were closed in both cases so they couldnt get people up there as you said.

Right now kirkwood stands at 62-70 inches for the storm with an additional 2-5 likely above 5,000 feet, so that will probably translate to 4 or so. With drifts the snow is probably getting pretty deep in places with an average base depth of 156-225, i think they are calling it the deepest in the country right now.

We're reporting a 40" midmountain base. Of course, that's measured near the bomb shack, so there is no traffic there to pack it down. That aside, Union bowl and Union Peak in general were quite nice today :D

Ok, its over. 22 feet total in 2 weeks. About 10 and a half this week a little more last week. A few weeks of sunshine and some very good conditions ahead.
