Well, they might get it done yet.... I don't see any towers yet, though.

Why is the top terminal so far off the ground? Are they building some type of multiple level structure around it?

It's because skiers getting off of Rex are going to be skiing right underneath the east half of it.

Fly day is Wednesday, October 20th. Crystal is hosting a viewing party at the base lodge. And the cabins have arrived...

Interesting that they chose off white terminal and red cabins. It does not match anything at the mountain except for the logo. All of the chairlifts are forest green. That being said, I really like the look. It will stand out but will not be too over the top.

You should have seen the lifts when they were bright red and bright blue. Anything's better than that. Cabins look nice.

That's very strange that the cabins are not branded with the huge Crystal 'C' like everything else at the resort.

Said online that the helicopter company (Columbia Helicopters) had to reschedule for either the 26th, 27th, or 28th.

Colombia flies only big birds(they have a cool website)and they are often in demand a contract may have run long or the chopper in question needed mantinace. I worked under one of their birds on Chair 11 at BC took only 1hour 45 min to land 16 towers and that was with a refule stop in the middle. It takes about a week to pull the rope on and rig for a splice. The electrical stuff takes a few weeks so end NOV. early DEC. sounds like a reasonable completion time line.

Looks like the North American style towerhead, not the European one.

Yeah, this is what I was afraid of! Why Crystal waits until Oct/Nov to install its towers with our record of NW weather is beyond me. They got away with it last time, really hope they can do it again. Forcast is calling for the worst winter since 1955, so time might already be up.

I agree that they always seem to push it but I have confidence they will get enough of a window to get it done.

Concrete was poured into the last of the 13 tower footings by helicopter on October 19th. The concrete needs 7-10 days to cure before the towers and sheave assemblies will be flown into place using a Chinook helicopter. The heavy-lifting Chinook, coming from Columbia Helicopters in Aurora, OR, is scheduled to be at Crystal on Friday, October 29th (weather permitting). Then the wire haul rope will get strung and the electrical connections will be made to each tower. And finally, the gondola cabins will be attached to the rope. The load test is scheduled for December 1st. The official Grand Opening Ceremony and will be held Friday, December 10th. Stay tuned for details.

No log cabin lift shacks on this one. I wish they would put up some closer up pics of that terminal!
