LOVELAND TO OPEN FIRST IN NORTH AMERICA

I find it funny how Timberline is not credited for being the first one to open. Its been operating from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm every day.

9am Pacific time is 10am mountain time, so A basin still comes in ahead by a hour

Timberline has been closed for skiing and riding since Labor Day, September 7. If conditions did permit the Palmer Snowfield would be open weekends only in September and October. This year they don't have enough snow, so Loveland gets the credit and deserves the honor of being the first to open for the 2009-2010 season.

They are very set in their ways. Opening day used to be a great deal, they only would charge an amount equal to what year it was, $20.02 for the year 2002. Haven't done this for a couple of years.

My friend works at Deer Valley over 20 years. He said that Deer Valley has the insurance and both the insurance and Deer Valley make an agreement and follow the insurance to set up dates for opening and closing. If Deer Valley opens other day than a date, the insurance won't cover.

I don't know what about other ski resorts to open whenever the insurance allow them to open early or follow to set up a date.

Sunday River opened today and Mammoth opens Friday. Seems like more resorts are open than usual for mid-October.

Yeah, well here it's borderline too. Wild only made snow for 1 night, so we'll see, because it's not supposed to be that cold in the next 10 days...

Glad to see you made it there safely. Did you go up earlier than planned?

Well.........opening weekend went well, opened one detach quad, one fixed grip quad and the gondola. Crowds were insane on saturday, clear blue skies and great snow on the open runs. The closed runs got ski packed very well !

Dino, Pulled out of the drive way at 630am. The plan was to pull out around 9am. Arrived in Glenwood around 1030... Roads were not that bad.

Start work on Thursday. Friday I should be running the VX.

yup, Thankskiing Day looks almost impossible now in the 15 day. Yeah, no beggin' for a free employee meal, turkey to be enjoyed at home. Haven't had much for snow here yet, although they had about 6-8" in the Western UP a few weeks ago. Wild Mt dosent suprise me, I am sure they and Brule are chomping by now. el nino ???? well whatever you think, not so good here yet.
