Bob Magrino at Loveland sent this to me today. I'm told it happened at Vail yesterday.

"I'm telling you ladies, it's cold things shrink when it's cold!"

Holy shit... I'm laughing hard!
Tomorrow I just might get fired for making this photo the wallpaper on my bosses computer.

One night... many years ago, at blackcomb, some folks snuck unnoticed on a chair after the lifty had called last chair. In the morning we found a rope made out of their clothing knotted together reaching from the chair... down to about 10' or so above the ground... ALL of their clothing. Must have been a cold run down. (Hey, where are the car keys?)

How did he end up like that ten yards into the lift ride? Is the other guy holding him by his pants leg? From that height it'd be better if he just fell onto his feet. I bet he goes to buy some suspenders for the next time out

I would have liked to make that radio call, hopefully the guy didn't get hurt too bad. Looks like the other person was about to lose it to.

Well I guess I didn't notice this myself but if you look at the picture the seat of the chair is tipped up and that's how the guy ended up that way.

The Smoking Gun

It also sounds like the guy is going to try to get a holiday bonus out of this one.

That's absolutely hilarious, but after reading the report I agree with you Jeff. There is absolutely no excuse for a liftie to let a seat go that somehow got flipped up.

I don't flip chairs at the top station because I'm busy doing other stuff, however if it's after 8:10am and i see chairs still flipped i start flipping them. There is NO Excuse for this. Do the lifties there not watch whats' coming down the lift line?????

This is a detach right? How fast does the chair come around? I would think enough time to move out of the way with only two people. Also enough time for a liftie to notice and flip it down.

The two people may have not looked behind to see if there was a seat. And the op just missed it until the chair got away. A catastrophic event is typically a series of failures.
