This was sent out to the Alpental ski patrol, was then posted on the net and I've added it to my message board. It is a long read, but a very interesting story of how Alpental got its start, all the risks they went through and how it ended up to be what it is.

I'm not being sarcastic, those were the first three chairs. 1 is gone (Armstrong Express) but 2 and 3 remain. I think they call 3 Sessel (German for 'chair') now.
Pa was on the construction crew for that summer. It was quite the adventure putting in 2, he said; lots of helo time and copious quantities of explosives. He also designed and cut the trail 'Snake Dance' as well as cutting many of the other trails (he was, and still is, a timber faller)
