From the real-estate it has been selling at both Big White and Silver Star. :)

I think this is a bad idea installing this lift next to the Ridge Rocket Express since it will contribute to a lot of slope conjestion in the area, especially when Big White has all those stupid slow skiing signs everywhere.

EDIT: oops, just noticed that this was already inlcuded in the list.

Looks like Powder Mountain, Ut is getting a HSQ:

Powder Mountain Ski Area to Get Detachable Quad

Powder Mountain, one of Utah's true hidden skiing gems, will spend $4.5 million to replace its Hidden Lake Lift this summer with a Doppelmayr CTEC, four person detachable high speed lift. The new chairlift will be the ski and snowboard area's first high-speed detachable chair.

The lift, to be named the Hidden Lake Express, is manufactured in Salt Lake City and construction will start on July 1. The mountain will be removing the old lift between now and June 30.

The present Hidden Lake lift, one of the ski area's primary workhorses, has a capacity of 1,200 persons per hour and is 30 years old. The new lift will have a capacity of 2,400 per hour.

“Everyone at Powder Mountain is excited about the lift and what it will do for our customers. This will provide our skiing and snowboarding guests better access to our 5,500 acres of real snow,” remarked Marc Paulsen, spokesperson for Powder Mountain Resort.

The new chairlift, which will follow the line of the old chair, is expected to be in operation by December.

The new lift should help with congestion as almost half of the current Ridge chair capacity is being used as an access lift ( to get to the Gem/Powder side, and back from there to the Village). I do agree about the slow signs, they don't seem to work very well. I think the best bet is to give the Patrol paint guns and then pick up the speeders in the lift line. I'll post the technical details of the new lift when I'm back at work monday.

Real Estate as well as visits, I think we are well over 600,000 visits this year.

Other stuff I forgot:

In addition to the Snow Ghost Express, Big White Ski Resort Ltd. will:

1) Upgrade the Paradise, Meadowlark, Serwa’s and Exhibition runs, allowing the resort to open earlier in the season, snow permitting.

2) Upgrade the Happy Valley beginner ski and snowboard area by installing a 400 foot Magic Carpet lift allowing for a comfortable, safe and enjoyable learning experience.

3) Complete the 70 million gallon reservoir known as Paul Lake. This $4M project will secure Big White’s water needs well into the future.

4) Continued summer grooming projects at Gem Lake, Black Forest, and in TELUS Park.

5) With the popularity of last year's new Black Forest parking lot (600 car capacity), additional capacity will be added to the Black Forest Express quad, which will have its capacity increased by 34% in order to accommodate 2,400 skiers per hour. ( 25 more carriers, TB41 )

Mt Bachelor announce the Pine Marten chair would be closed this summer and "re-built". Does anybody know what this will involve? Also, does anyone know if PWDR Corp. ever plans to replace and/or build more lifts on Mt. B?

Any comments about the possible line of the SnowGhost? It's longer than the Ridge rocket by a few hundred feet so will it run slightly higher than Ridge Rocket?

Will the Snow Ghost 6pack be L-P or DC? They installed the new Doppelmayr Cliff chair, but Silver Star has all new Poma's, except the lift that they are building this year is a D-CTEC. Edit: I see it's a Leitner-Poma

The Snow Ghost will unload in the meadow you ski through when you come from the top of the Powder to the top of the Ridge.

According to an article in the Bend Bulletin earlier this month, Mt. Bachelor will rebuild "everything that moves" on the Pine Marten Express quad. It also specifically said that no new chairs or towers would be added... meaning that the lift will be mechanically upgraded, but will remain a 2,800 pph high-speed detachable quad lift.

The lift rebuild will affect summer operations at Mt. Bachelor. Normally, the Pine Marten Express runs from July 4th through Labor Day for summer sightseers... and the Pine Marten mid-mountain lodge is open for food service. But this summer, Mt. Bachelor will operate out of the Sunrise Lodge base, and will run the Sunrise and Summit Express lifts instead... which means that visitors will be lifted all the way to the top of Mt. Bachelor for incredible views at 9,000 feet. A treat for tourists this summer only, thanks to the Pine Marten shutdown.

Bachelor probably ran up against the same wall we did on the Eagle this year, with the lift running ten months out of the year and no time to tackle any big projects. Did the article mention if the lift is geting new grips, or are they in good shape still? I imagine everything else in the terminals, as well as half the line, will be removed completely and rebuilt. Fun times for that crew.

I thought Bachelor was planning to replace Pine Marten with a six pack sometime. Sounds like that's on hold for a while

Are the terminal skins still going to be the same? They are so ugly, they should replace that while they're at it. It seem like all the lifts at Bachelor are really really ugly.

That is because most of the high speed lifts are quite old. Pine Martin itself is 20 years old. Their newest brand new lift is the Northwest Express and it is already 10 years old. Bachelor seems to take good care of their lifts, so i doubt any changes other than the lift's innards will be changed.

Here are Northstar-at-Tahoe's Summer plans:

Tahoe Bonanza

Northstar-at-Tahoe has canceled its mountain bike season this summer to allow for continued construction of the resort's new village and the addition of several lifts to the mountain.

In past summers, Northstar's mountain bike park featured two chairlifts to carry bikes to the top of the mountain and more than 100 miles of trails rated from easy to extremely difficult.

Meanwhile, the additional lifts - including the new Pioneer Chair, a surface lift to take skiers from the Pioneer Chair to Lookout Mountain and a Big Springs lift from the base to mid-mountain - are just the beginning of a lift expansion that Northstar officials say may add 10 lifts to the resort by 2009.

The ten planned chairs will add approximately 1,000 acres of lift-accessed terrain to the resort, said Northstar spokeswoman Nicole Klay. Much of the new terrain will be along Sawtooth Ridge, which the resort plans to offer as glade and tree skiing. Sawtooth Ridge is currently accessible by hiking or skiing through a backcountry gate at the resort's boundary.

"We have tons of terrain back there that will really open up the mountain," Klay said.

The mountain expansion is meant to keep up with the large-scale condominium and hotel projects at the base of Northstar. The resort will be adding more than 1,500 condos and hotel rooms to the mountain over the next several years.

"We're basically keeping up with the bed base," said Klay. "If we have the people here, we have to fit them on the mountain."

Next winter, skiers and snowboarders should find a "chondola" - a six-person chairlift that will also run a gondola cabin every third or fourth chair - instead of the two-person Pioneer Chairlift, Klay said.

The combination of gondolas and chairlifts will allow Tahoe Mountain Club members to access the Schaeffer's Camp restaurant without skis, while still providing skiers traditional lift access.

The Big Springs lift, which will leave from the Big Springs housing area and unload at mid-mountain, is a "real estate" lift - designed to get homeowners and village guests up the mountain from the base, Klay said.

Future plans include three additional lifts on Lookout Mountain, two lifts on Sawtooth Ridge and new lifts on the backside of the mountain.

Village

The Village at Northstar will remain open during the summer, Klay said, although a few shops have the option to close during the spring shoulder season.

While there will be no mountain biking, the resort will continue to operate the skating rink, either as an ice rink or a roller rink, said Klay.

Northstar plans to begin hosting events like movie nights and live music in the village in July, she said.

Here is a new list of lifts. Is Northstar getting a surface lift and chondola and the used trple that they bought from Deer Valley? Also, I read that Mt Baker is replacing chair 3 with a quad, so that will mean they have all quads. Has anyone heard anything about new lifts at Mammoth? What about Little Cat at Snowbasin? is that going to happen? Ans is the Canyons replacing Tombstone with a 6pack?

this season will see the reinstallation of the outrigger chair on the backside of parsenn and it will run parallel to hi-lo.

you forgot to add the re instalation of the old outrigger lift to the parsenn bowl.

Also, I read that Mt Baker is replacing chair 3 with a quad, so that will mean they have all quads.

Also, Mt baker still has chair one double. so there will not be all quads.

Snowmass, Colorado Leitner-Poma Quad Assay Hill

I'd want to check if this lift will be new or used. there was a number of old falcon quad chairs on top of the old wood run drive house. It is possible that parts of this lift will be used from fanny hill. although it could be new also.

Used. the chairs will be the old fanny chairs and new terminal / drive (or used but not fanny drive). Remember the drive is on that double running next to the 6 pack.
