Hey Wally, if you go to Beaver Mountain, can you take some pictures. I think the lift at Beaver Mountain that's being replaced is probably the Miner-Denver lift.

I do not think sugar bowl will be getting a new lift this year as Crow's Nest is already a double. I have also heard that Mountain High North in California might be getting a new chairlift to replace the old giant poma.

Has anyone figured out if dino at hyak is going to be replaced this year? they should have enough funds seeing as though the northwest is having a good year.

Crystal and the Summit are in the same situation. They need a really really good year to make up for last year. Crystal has said they need a really good year do do any improvments this summer.

What's this about a beginner quad at Magic VT?

Recent word has at at Winter Park that the old Outrigger triple will be reinstalled on the backside of Parsenn's for '06, sounded fairly certain. Much of that lift still partially stands in its former location. There was also talk of the Timberline lift being removed and "Parsenn Express" HSS being installed from the base of Sunnyside to the top of the current Timberline.--Then, there was rumor of them using the old Timberline to replace Looking Glass. Not sure if all that will happen this summer or if the HSS will be pushed ahead to '07 but the Iron Horse may be disappearing soon with no replacement unfortunately.

Loon Mountain will be installing a HSQ and a few other lifts either this summer or next. They just got the South Peak Expansion approved and should be breaking ground this summer. As for the beginner quad at Magic, no way. They might finish the Pheonix lift (blue chair), but that's probably the only lift related thing that Magic may do, unless it goes under new ownership.

I have heard rumors of a capacity upgrade in the form of a HS6 or HS8 running the same line as the current Colorado Superchair but I haven't heard anything solid so if it's going to happen it will probably be quite a ways off. Also in the last few years I think they have made several upgrades to the Colorado chair so I wouldn't think that a full lift upgrade would be coming anytime soon.

Replacing the Colorado Superchair with a HSS or HSE would be A LOT of uphill capacity in that area since both the Colorado and Rocky Mountain lifts have a combined hourly capacity of 5600 pph and then you have the people getting off the Peak 8 Super Connect lift. Talk about slope congestion.

Crystal Chair at Blackcomb won't be happening for the foreseeable future. The 3S interconnect is 98% going to happen. There is also more than usual talk about a lift up Piccolo from the bottom of Flute bowl. Here's hoping.

Just out of interest, we recorded the snowiest month ever this Janaury. Over 460 cms of snow fell. Typical of my luck I wrecked my knee Jan 13th.
