Just thought Id share with you guys: I was just visiting Aspen co a couple weeks ago. I rode up the Shadow mountain (lift 1a) SLI lift. I was intrigued by the new sheave frames that have been added to the lift since I last visited. The depress towers use a standard TSI sheave frame, but the ones on the support towers appear to be custom made for this lift. They are similar to the TSI frames but have anti derailment guards that are alike the ones found on SLI frames.

A picture of the old upside down Riblet sheave frames the lift used prior to these new ones. For whatever reason, this tower (not sure of the number) still uses the old Riblet frames.

About 4 years ago they started replacing/updating the tower machinery. The were replacing on an as needed basis.

Yes the SLI/Riblet at Rib Mt had the original external grips, the lift operated until 2003 when it was replaced by the Comet 6-pack, the lower terminal was used as a storage building until last year when it was removed. That lift used to have some extreme sagging between towers when fully loaded! I always wondered where that lift came from before installed at Rib Mountain as it was used, could not have been at another area very long as Rib installed it in '76

Did you know that the location in Incline Village where SLI was based is now a nail parlor. I looked up the adress from the old pamphlets on google earth and a nail parlor in Incline Village came up.

I think it is the other way around with the blue lift. It appears to be an SLI lift modified by riblet.

It looks like the lift was installed in 1978. SLI was out of business by then. I think the lift is a Riblet, built with some left over SLI parts.
