And assuming they sell off the old chairs. I doubt anyone wants a 40+ year old FGT. Even with it being in as great of condition as it is.

I had to act quickly but I got one for $150! Did you end up getting one? I hope so! They sold out so quickly I was just lucky I looked at Facebook right when they posted it. :(

$150!? The old littlecat chairs were almost twice that! I saw a bunch of people complaining on facebook that they never had a chance... Uggh. Bummer. No I did not know about it until it was already over.

With the soft winter we had here in the Upper Midwest, does anyone familiar with the project know whether Giants Ridge in MN is still moving forward with the two replacement lifts referenced earlier this year?

I know some members of the forum also had the inside scoop on Lutsen, MN in the past. Any word on whether the expansion plans will be started this summer?

I know forsure that Giants is replacing one chair this summer. They sold all the chairs this part spring on Facebook. Not sure about the second chair but I thought Peter had mentioned it was a go.

I have heard nothing from Lutsen and their possible plans for this season.

Giants is getting two lifts this summer a LPOA detachable quad and a SkyTrac fixed quad.

Thanks To both of you for the updates! I did see that as of today, the Forest Service has approved Lutsen's preliminary request for expansion and the process is now moving to the environmental impact review. Apparently the proposed expansion on Eagle Mountain will happen first, and the majority of that component falls on private land. I would expect an order for a new lift probably next summer.

Kinda knew that but didn't want to make it official with only one source. They haven't announced it on their site yet.
Spent a lot of time on that lift, and my wife was operations foreman there for four years. Sad to see it gone. It did have a *lot* of hours though.

Should note the Red Buffalo Express lift will technically be a new lift, but not a "new" lift. It will receive the chairs and towers from Keystone's Montezuma Express lift: https://www.facebook...54380715876577/

One question is: what are they doing with the grips? Will the old Montezuma Express terminals be transplanted or will new Euro terminals and the Agmatics grips be outfitted instead?


The Montezuma Express six-pack is also now confirmed to be a Leitner-Poma project.

Guessing the Montezuma terminals and grips will be scrapped. Vail doesn't like to reuse detachable lifts as all the others they have replaced were scrapped. Granted, they were all quite old first generation detachables, but there are dozens and dozens of lifts that have the same terminal design that as Montezuma that are still going strong and mountains have no plans to replace them. Any other resort operator would've just relocated the entire lift. Falcon at Breckenridge is most certainly being scrapped, now that Vail doesn't have any other lifts with the same terminal design.

LPOA was named the replacement lift manufacture early this year. We have already started to receive tower equipment from Poma.

The grips on the original Montezuma lift have about 35,000 hours and have been maintained exceptionally well (with documentation). The grips have 20 to 30 thousand more hours left so they won't be scrapped.

No way Beaver Creek ever gets an LP lift as they are 100% Doppelmayr and CTEC. Breckenridge is all Poma except for a few remaining Riblets and the Doppelmayr T Bar. They chose LP because of Breckenridge, and likely due to a package deal, Montezuma will also be an LP.

Not sure why they aren't just relocating the entire lift to Beaver Creek if the grips are still good and they're already going to reuse the chairs and towers.
