It was on a liftblog news post a week or two ago. Peter had a link.

I think this may be the link: http://canyonsvillageplan.com/ Pretty vague.

Definitely. If you sort of eyeball the angle in the rendering and take it at face value, it would appear they might be trying to shoot the gap between Timberline and Tombstone (possibly with a mid-station there?) and then heading up mountain from there. Not sure how that would work if the goal is truly single lift access to Quicksilver, or more accurately if it's really a good idea in the first place. Only way to do it is to terminate high up on either Iron Mtn or Dreamscape, neither of which is necessary or advisable given current/optimal lift layout. Would be far more efficient and smarter long-term IMHO to run it up to the 8600' elev near where Serenity and Sanctuary break off from Power Alley. This would provide single lift access to everything south of Tombstone except Quicksilver, in the process taking a lot of stress off of Tombstone itself. I mean, shit - if people were so eager to ski on the PC side, then why would they choose to start their day at Canyons base to begin with? Single lift access to Quicksilver from there sounds nice but really doesn't seem to solve any of the actual pressing needs re: circulation or access.

Still doesn't solve the current issues around enabling access from White Pine back to Dutch Draw, Red Pine and beyond, but it would solve a few major headaches.

Pending USFS approval, Vail plans to replace lift 11 Northwoods with a detachable 6-pack. The current lift is a Doppelmayr detachable quad installed in 1985. http://blog.vail.com...11-get-upgrade/

Vail Resorts announced planned upgrades of several aging quads to high speed six packs:

1. Keystone - Montezuma Express lift

2. Breckenridge - Falcon SuperChair (Leitner-Poma)

3. Vail - Northwoods Express lift (likely going to be a Doppelmayr, given Doppelmayr built Vail's other two existing six packs. But they did go back to Leitner-Poma to build the Sun Up Express lift, so who knows?)

I've heard from an inside source that Mammoth Mountain is planning a couple massive projects for this summer. More on this once it's confirmed...

All I've heard is that they're going to finally build Eagle Lodge. Lift upgrades would be appreciated, however.

Pending USFS approval Vail Resorts announced plans to upgrade the Drink of Water lift 5 (fixed/double) at Beaver Creek to HSQ. The new lift will retain the #5 designation while being renamed Red Buffalo Express. Construction should be completed in time for the 2017-2018 season.

This should eventually fall into the 2018 thread once it's created but until then I thought I would mention it here to see if anyone else has more info on this. I was riding up a lift at Taos the other day and was chatting with a veteran instructor and we got chatting about the lifts. He told me that the plan is to take out chairs 1 and 5 and replace them with a HSQ in the summer of 2018.

Not really, Vail mountain doesn't seem to favor any one supplier. I installed a lift in the past at BC and from my experience LM department prefers the Austrian's stuff as they have so much of it, but I have to remember that the LM department doesn't cut the checks . So I'll change it from surprised to impressed if you guys got that project too  .

At Vail, it seems to be whichever of the two manufacturers comes in with the best quote. Although I wouldn't be surprised if they work out some sort of package deal with the manufacturer for all the Vail owned resorts that are getting new lifts this year/next, even if one resort has been dominantly one manufacturer in the past.
