I am taking an educated guess that the choice of tower head, Euro vs North American is determined by the load being placed on the tower. The park city side is using a more European profile design with large spans and fewer towers, whereas the Canyons side uses small spans and a regular spacing of towers. If you look closely you will see that the European towers are also equipped with larger sheaves in heavier assemblies than the NA tower design towers on the canyons side. Its interesting to note that the euro style assemblies using the bigger sheaves don't use a weighted sheave either. Some mechanic is going to have fun doing line work on this bad boy.

Sounds plausible. I was thinking yesterday as I was walking around that the sheaves looked bigger on the Euro towers but then I thought that would be too crazy to have different sizes on the same lift. If you think about tower loads, there are actiually three lifting frame styles on Quicksilver - the skinny and thicker North American ones and the even bigger Euro ones. Also I noticed the depression towers on the PC side don't have the short/stubby Euro ones like usual.
Does anyone know where Doppelmayr is building towers these days?
Donald there won't be a Poma-bus or anything like it from what I can tell.

As I understand it Leitner-Poma brought the terminals, line gear and grips back from Marble Mountain and completely refurbished them for the Powderhorn lift. Marble kept their towers and Powderhorn kept theirs, saving everybody money.

Grear box, bullwheels and I believe chairs were from Squaws old Siberia, but also went back to the shop for refurbishment.

From the old 1985 HSQ?? Wow. That's impressive re-use of old equipment.
I'm not sure exactly what is going into the refurbishment, but the gear box was rebuilt a few years ago during the winter and then the following summer the bullwheel bearings were replaced, but that might all be redone for this. The service team at Poma probably had a good idea of what they were getting for parts before they made the decision.

Expecting both to have the DT grips - all the Doppelmayr CTEC lifts on both sides have them too
I am not entirely sure. I compared some of Peter's photos of the new PCMR lifts with photos of some other Doppelmayrs and I'm led to think that AGA grips will be used.
Specifically, I compared this photo of Peter's that he took of the Quicksilver Gondola's Silverlode terminal:

With this photo I took two years ago of the Mountaintop Express lift at Vail:
