I'd say Vail is trying to make themselves unique by installing the Mountaintop Express lift with a carpet.

And I'd also say that the lift is going to be a clockwise lift, since it will have 90 degree loading and an anticlockwise configuration would require a gooseneck turn for the queue for skiers coming from Mid-Vail or the Mid-Vail Express trail.

This could be true, although with the VA and RMS passes, there are plenty of CO people skiing frequently. Maybe we have more tourists in the mix from states which do not otherwise have skiing due to the close proximity to Colorado (ie Colorado is closer to Texas than Washington, Wyoming, or Montana is.) They are not accustomed to riding chairlifts there. Maybe they could practice more on bucking broncos or excited horses. I'm not trying to slam Texans though, we have plenty of toursits from Kansas, Oklahoma, and Nebreska who are not as experienced with lifts either. Excessive misloading is an annoying problem though and it is worth it to try different ways to minimize it. Like death and taxes though, the problem will never totally go away. I will definately be interested to hear how efficient their (Vail's) HSS is. I'm thinking Super Bee at Copper though will still have "one up" on new #4 at Vail for efficiency.

Well Super Bee also has in-line loading and the groups of six are fully formed about five or six groups before the loading gates. Under the old high speed quad, the Mountaintop Express didn't exactly have the "chaos at the loading area due to the mazes merging" because the merge point was about six groups before the wait line. But the complexity of the maze will probably be because the maze's space will be confined. Obviously no mazes can be to the east side of the lift, which means that the line for skiers coming off Christmas and trails east of the lift line will have to be squeezed between the new lift and the Wildwood Express lift's maze. The maze for people coming from Mid-Vail will still be in the original location.

Mt Brighton New fg quad will be a Doppelmayr. Silver is also getting modified alignment, the Orange? (Backside by silver) is also getting mods. All new turnkey SMI system also going in.

Assay Hill and Meadows both have parts cannibalized from Fanny Hill.

The 'new' green/blue lift is going to be a new Doppelmayr FG Quad, the line is surveyed directly between the two former lifts. Dopp is on-site and cables are off the lifts. He said the Silver's lower terminal was being relocated, and that the Orange? was getting a 'newer' drive terminal. The rope tows have been pulled and its worth nothing there is a huge pile of dirt that is being piled in the parking lot, although they may 'lease' the lot to local construction businesses, I didnt ask. The couple employees I talked to are uber excited by the new direction of things,

I wonder how long before Breckenridge reveals what they will name the Peak 6 lifts.

If anything, I'd say the fixed-grip quad that leads to the six pack will be something like Lift 8 or Peak 6 Access. I'd guess the six pack might be the Far North SuperChair, or the Blue River SuperChair. Maybe even the Iowa Hill SuperChair. These would be geographic based names for nearby landmarks, or location.

The reason I thought it might be a "go" for this summer is their website had it listed under "2013/14 Improvement Projects". If not this summer, though, I would think it would be installed for 2014. It will be interesting for them to store all those parts for the winter. Maybe somewhere near the bottom of Alberta chair.

Indy is lift 8 already, so says the manual cover. That would make Imperial chair 9, and the new ones 10 and 11, not that it's a huge deal.
