Thanks for the photos! Can you tell me what I'm looking at in the third photo? It's the midstation, but any extra details would be appreciated.

Yep, thats the barn to hold the 185 cabins that will be on this lift. 21,000 square feet.

Like a lot of two section lifts, this is essentially two separate lifts joined in the middle. Each has its own drive, ropes, controls etc. Both sections are top drive, bottom tension, with three electric drives and motors. The lift can operate normally on two. There are paralleled generator for back up power. Haven't seen the panels to know if we are getting PSS3000 or not.

I thought the Doppel guys had told me it is one rope like Jackson's three station gondola. Ours is similar to yours but with both drive stations at the middle. We also can run continuous or through mode. We got what I thought was the last year of the PSS 3000 which was built last year so the new section is also PSS 3000. Generators at each station. Two inline motors and drives per section. We ran last winter the first section on one motor, alternating between the two every other week. We did not install the build out capacity of cabins but will increase it this year with the second section. It sounds like it will take both motors all the time with the increased capacity. Also sounds like we can run full speed, half capacity or half speed, full capacity with one motor with the new capacity.
How is synchronizing the two drive stations accomplished if the two drive sections are not adjacent?

The new gondi will be two separate lifts. It is the same configuration as Excalibur gondola that went in in 1994. If we run the new lift in "through" mode we can do 6m/s, if we are in "normal" mode with the sections separated, we can only do 3m/s due to the short terminals at midstation. As I mentioned earlier, there is no Auxiliary diesel drive on this lift. Redundancy is obtained by using the triple drive set up with back up generators at each drive (top) station, so we can run full cabin capacity at all times, but reduced overall capacity. As for speed synchronisation, on Excalibur there is a 4-20 mA loop created at the top drive station. This goes down the comm line to the bottom section and the drives in both sections use this as a speed reference. For the new lift it might be the same, or there could be communication between the PLC's over the fibre cable and the speed signal is shared that way. Don't know what PSS we are getting. Control panels aren't here yet.

We have the auxiliaries for each section in the event of a processor failure. If running in through mode and have a processor failure on one section, we would need to separate the two sections and run the one with the processor failure off with the auxiliary. Syncing two diesels has been met with limited success.
Ethernet for some of our end to end communication. Still trying to get a grasp what that list consists of.
Haven't seen our mid station conveyor system in operation yet. It will be interesting to see the synchronization of the four drives and the two conveyors. Sounds like our system is much less complicated then yours according to the SLC guys.

With the way that pretty much every PLC handles communications nowadays, I would be surprised to see synchronization over a 4-20ma loop. Especially since there's already likely going to be some coordination between the two sections. I'd be very interested in seeing more about the controls once you have them.
